Short Description
Main Objective
The Manse building was constructed by German Missionaries in the late 19th century and remains one of the most historically and architecturally significant buildings in Kenya. However, the building is now in an advanced state of deterioration and in urgent need of repair.
The Museum of Kenya’s project aims to restore the Manse Building and install a community exhibition and interpretation boards, as well as training local community members in guiding and heritage management. Through this, the history, culture and the traditions of the local community in Tana River County can be better understood and therefore preserved.
