Climate change is one of the greatest environmental issues faced by humanity today. Its consequences have not fully been mapped despite the fact that thousands of awareness raising events have been organized and academic research has been conducted.
The Heritage Management Organization together with its partners, ICCROM the intergovernmental organization on the conservation of monuments, the Canadian Conservation Institute and UCL Qatar have decided to work together, organizing three events on the effects climate change has on monuments.
The first event, a colloquium on how climate change has an effect on the risk management of archaeological sites was held in April 2012 in the New Acropolis Museum, in Athens, Greece. The second activity is the organization of this transferable and web exhibition including educational programme for awareness raising. The third event was the organization of training seminars for specialists from around the world.
All three events were partly funded by the ‘Stavros Niarchos Foundation’.
