Short Description
Main Objective
Traditional pottery in Boubon is a deeply rooted cultural practice passed down through generations of primarily female artisans. The significance of this pottery goes far beyond mere utility; it is a powerful blend of culture, identity, livelihood, and gender empowerment. However, the pottery created by these local women is purchased by intermediaries who export and sell it at significantly increased prices, without equitable returns for the artisans.
In response, ONG Culture Art Humanite propose to economically empower these female potters through a training workshop where they will learn more about refining and coloring their pottery, as well as how to effectively market it themselves to external audiences. In addition, the project will encourage trainees to mentor other women, ensuring continuation of knowledge and the perpetuation of this traditional craft.
Outcomes
-
Promote Boubon pottery as a key cultural heritage.
-
Train 40 women in pottery decoration and techniques.
