Short Description
Main Objective
The main objective of HerMaP-Mexico is to strengthen the capacity of heritage professionals and institutions in Mexico’s northern border states—Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas—through a targeted program of mapping, training, funding, and networking.
Supported by the Mellon Foundation, the project aims to generate long-term impact by fostering collaboration among governmental, academic, and community stakeholders working in cultural heritage.
Outcomes
- A regional diagnostic report mapping key heritage actors, needs, and opportunities in six northern Mexican states.
- Delivery of context-specific training programs for heritage professionals and institutions.
- Launch of a regranting scheme supporting innovative local heritage initiatives.
- Strengthened institutional and cross-sectoral networks at regional and national levels.
- Increased collaboration between governmental, academic, and community stakeholders.
- Enhanced visibility and sustainability of heritage efforts in border communities.
- Integration of international best practices through peer exchange and mentorship opportunities.
Mapping Capacity in Heritage Management
The Heritage Management Organisation designed this questionnaire to obtain information about the training needs of individuals working in the creative industries, culture, or heritage. The project’s end goal and ambition is to empower local communities through data-driven capacity building in the cultural and environmental heritage management thus maximizing a powerful strategic advantage of every country.
