Short Description
Main Objective
The Kubuneh-Galloya Heritage Trail project aims to preserve and celebrate the shared cultural heritage of the two villages through the creation of a physical trail, artistic signage, and museum enhancements. Local artisans and the Galloya Street Art group will contribute to trail design and interpretation, while the Kubuneh Cultural Museum will be upgraded to better display traditional tools and pottery. The project will also collect oral histories to preserve intangible heritage and improve accessibility for all visitors. By promoting cultural tourism and community involvement, the project supports heritage preservation, education, and local economic development, with income reinvested to sustain its long-term impact.
This project was supported through HerMaP Gambia, implemented by HERITΛGE and co-funded by the European Union and the Mellon Foundation, as part of the Africa Grants Program.
