Short Description
Main Objective
The Oshikulu Cultural Village project is designed to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of the Aawambo people in northern Namibia, ensuring that both tangible and intangible aspects of their traditions are passed on to future generations. The project will establish a Living Museum, which will serve as a central hub for cultural education, where traditional practices, events, and exhibitions can be showcased to the public. A key objective is to engage the local community, particularly young people, through hands on participation in preserving cultural practices and crafts, as well as by providing them with opportunities for skill building and knowledge sharing.
The museum will act as a centre for research, where cultural heritage can be studied and documented digitally, making these valuable resources accessible to a global audience. The project also aims to foster economic development by promoting cultural tourism, creating employment opportunities for local artisans, and supporting the creation of small businesses within the community. By establishing a self sustaining model, the project seeks to reinvest any generated income back into further preserving the heritage and fostering long term community development. Through these objectives, Oshikulu Cultural Village will not only contribute to the preservation of cultural heritage but also serve as an important driver of social, educational, and economic growth in the region.
