Short Description
Main Objective
The National Museum at Onikan in Lagos, Nigeria, serves as a custodian of Nigeria’s cultural heritage, housing a diverse collection of artifacts that narrate Nigeria’s rich history. Established in 1957, the museum faces a contemporary challenge – the constant need for a stable source of electricity due to disruptions in the national energy grid, impacting operations, security, and preservation efforts. Recognising the need for a reliable and sustainable power source, Digiscape has developed an initiative to preserve the heritage of the Museum: The green transition (Solarization) of the National Museum. This solar solution aims to harness the sunlight in the region, providing an environmentally friendly source of electricity. By adopting cleaner, green, and sustainable electricity, the museum seeks to improve energy efficiency, reduce costs, enhance relations, and contribute to a sustainable environment while continuing its vital role as a guardian of Nigeria’s cultural heritage.
Outcomes
Significant reduction in energy costs and a decreased carbon footprint for the National Museum.
The project aligns with sustainability goals, providing a reliable power source in remote locations.
Preserving the value of artifacts by ensuring a constant, sustainable, and clean energy source.
Added value to the property, promising a return on investment over time while embodying a commitment to environmental responsibility.
