Our MA in Heritage Management is a unique collaboration between the University of Kent and the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). Students from all over the world come here to benefit from the specialist teaching, research and expertise of both partners.
Our Heritage Management MA is taught in the Athenian suburb of Elefsina (ancient Eleusis). Based in the birthplace of civilisation, according to the Greeks and the Romans, you are close to historical sites such as the Parthenon, Ancient Corinth, Nemea and Thebes.
Classes are taught either on live archaeological sites, or in new purpose-built classrooms provided by the Heritage Management Organisation (HERITΛGE). You have full access to the library and computer facilities of the HERITΛGE, the library of the AUEB in central Athens and the electronic libraries of AUEB and Kent.
In collaboration with the HERITΛGE, a number of additional activities are available in Elefsina. These include courses for non-Greek speakers in music, painting and dance. The region is also excellent for outdoor pursuits, with local societies for sailing, mountaineering and basketball. In the summer you can experience Greek theatre and music at the annual Aeschlean Festival.
World-class tuition is provided by full-time professors from the two collaborating universities, as well as other distinguished professors and senior research staff. The main faculty comprises:
Dr Evangelos Kyriakidis, University of Kent, Senior Lecturer in Archaeology, Director of MA
Mike Corbishley, University of Kent, former Director of Education, English Heritage
Professor Vasilis Ganiatsas, National Technical University of Athens, Professor and Head of Department for Architecture
Dr Nota Pantzou, University of Patras, Director of the Parrhasian Heritage Park Field School.
You are also supported by local Elefsina administrative staff as well as AUEB staff in Athens and University of Kent staff in Canterbury.

Student experience
At our centre in Elefsina, you can immerse yourself in the history and culture of one of the world’s most important heritage sites. And with so many other important sites close by, you have numerous opportunities to experience ancient Greece.
Elefsina and Athens are both thriving cultural centres with events, from free exhibitions to world-class opera, taking place almost every day. Modern Greece’s favourite pastime is coffee and company – so take the time to sit and relax with your friends as you enjoy a slower pace of life.
Impressive prospects
The experience you gain while studying in Athens equips you with an impressive portfolio of skills, specialist knowledge and practical experience that will prove invaluable in a competitive job market.
