Introduction (MA)

Our taught Master’s in Heritage Management uniquely combines the worlds of archaeology and management in one 16-month programme, based at the archaeological site of Elefsina (ancient Eleusis) in one of the world’s most ancient cities, 45 minutes from Athens center. You learn the skills required for managing and preserving cultural world heritage sites and receive two degrees on graduation.

Innovative collaboration

 

This taught Master’s program is a collaborative venture between the University of Kent in the UK and the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). This unique partnership ensures world-class tuition and an interdisciplinary environment.

A critical element in the local dynamism and global relevance of the program is provided by the Heritage Management Organization (HERITΛGE). HERITΛGE is an innovative research and education project, which is supported by prominent international bodies and philanthropists.

Practical focus

You gain an understanding of a wide range of issues and learn how to work with colleagues as well as associated groups including, government and international agencies, local authorities and stakeholders, and sponsors.

Academic and professional outcomes

 

This MA program equips you with the right tools for a career in heritage management. You develop a robust grounding in theories, methods and approaches to archaeological site management and planning issues. Best practices are examined alongside areas of controversy and differing agendas.

You are offered career guidance and mentoring throughout the program. This combination of academic and practical learning prepares you for a career within local authorities, archaeological services, heritage management organizations and consultancies. You also gain a range of transferable skills relevant to employment in museums, government and the world of art and culture.

Dual qualification

You receive a degree award from both the University of Kent and the Athens University of Economics and Business on successful completion of the program.
